Bawling about Balling
Me and the old basketball gang down at the “Y” in better days. Except for that jerk guy who always called foul!
In the wake of missing out on playing with Jeff and Ian’s basketball team in Edmonton, I decided to sign up for some league play here in Charlottetown. So I went and checked out a drop in gym in order to prep for the upcoming season. The other guys down there didn’t look like even half the competition we’d face down at the U of A, so I figured I’d teach them how to play ball Edmonton style! Well, I played some 3 on 3 half court, then some full court 4 on 4, and I must say I’ve never felt more beat down! My shots weren’t falling and after 45 mintues I could barely get up and down the court. Besides having 60 year old knees and hamstring tendonitis, I realized I’m also out of basketball shape, so I’m now motivated to get ready for this league that’s starting up soon. I guess I’m the Shawn Kemp of Charlottetown, minus the drug abuse and dozens of illegitimate children! Anyway, I’m coming back fast, working out every day again and still I have a little more time before our season starts. I’m also on my way to physiotherapy tomorrow morning, and I’m trusting they know how to get my ailing body back in game shape. Good luck to Jeff and Ian’s team, I’ll be wanting to hear all the details!
