SNL vs LOTR

OK, so it’s a lazy Labour Day long weekend, and I’m at home just relaxing.  I watched in dusgust the Tigers lose to the Angels Sunday night.  I tried to go to sleep but I couldn’t, perhaps anticipating another vacation day tomorrow.  I’ve started reading Feist’s latest Exile’s Return (thanks to Jeff) which is great so far.  So I’m on the fantasy kick for a bit.  I turn on the TV and I catch some of Peter Jackson’s LOTR marathon, which reminded me of a long abandoned project I started in the early 00’s while watching the movies for the first time in the theatres:  What if the all-time SNL cast parodied these movies?  Would it not be the funniest thing ever to see Farley homo-erotically parading around as the dull-witted but loveable Sam Gamgee?  Or Phil Hartman blasting magic out of his staff as Gandalf?  And Chris Rock as Saruman the White???!!!  Anyway, we had a lot of fun thinking of the various cast, so here’s a quick breakdown on my thoughts…

Frodo:  Are you OK, that Nazgul rider was CLOSE!

Sam:  I’m just DANDY!  I got a bowl of chocolate pudding in my underpants! 

Frodo:  Uhhhhh, we didn’t have any chocolate pudding…
